destinations & experiences The Swedish Archipelago
- West coast Archipelago - Stockholm Archipelago - Mini cruise in the Stockholm Archipelago The Swedish Archipelago
No visit to Sweden would be complete without experiencing the wonders of the famous Archipelagos both in Stockholm and on the west coast. During the summer the archipelago provides an idyllic destination for a chance to relax and explore the surroundings. The islands come to life and the sparkling waters are often dotted with a colourful array of sailboats and steamships as locals and visitors alike head out to explore.
ACCESSIBILITY
Accessibility for all to the islands of the archipelago is of significant importance to the Swedes. Although the islands are not naturally accessible, the local authorities are continuously working towards combining the preservation of the natural habitat with increased levels of access on many of the main locations. Several of the piers are now accessible by wheelchairs and have disabled facilities such as public toilets. Some of the local public boats which service the archipelago have made adaptations to make their boats more accessible by wheelchair but we ALWAYS recommend checking to see which services offer the best wheelchair access. We are happy to provide more information on accessibility levels of both the boats and the more popular islands
Exploring the archipelago in detail could indeed take an entire lifetime. However, for those on a more limited schedule, there is plenty of opportunity to spend some quality time on some of the more spectacular and accessible islands of the Archipelago. Above you will find several suggestions for an ideal Archipelago experience to suit all schedules.
