ImageGothenburg and the West Coast

The breathtaking  west coast of Sweden provides a backdrop of unforgettable scenery for its visitors and a near perfect location for one of the most relaxing holidays imaginable.  The area is charmingly ‘Swedish’ in character and captivates the hearts of almost everyone who travels here.

DAYS 1,2 & 3

After your flight to Gothenburg enjoy the short transfer to the city centre as you begin to unwind and relax into the holiday spirit.  Gothenburg offers many fabulous sights and attractions, especially in the summer when the street terraces, fish market and sprawling green parks buss with activity.  Our accommodation in Stockholm is centrally based and offers delightful access to the main shopping centres and tourist attractions which the city has to offer.

Gothenburg - Little London
HOTEL - Central Option (Right next to the city centre train station)
HOTEL - Boutique Option (Stylish hotel located in popular city centre area)

DAYS 4,5 & 6

After a few days in the city you’ll be well rested and ready to collect you car and begin your journey north to the picturesque village of Strömstad in the Bohuslän area of West coast Sweden.

We highly recommend taking the day to drive the costal route which offers spectacular views over archipelago Sweden and take in some of the main bridges linking the different islands.  You can also stop off for a leisurely lunch in one of the hotels or restaurants along the way.  The costal route last for around 125 miles depending on the route taken and is a much slower, more relaxed road.  If you do choose the speedier motorway route you it lasts for approximately 87 miles(140 km) and will take around 1 hour and 45 minutes.

Strömstad is a charming Swedish costal town dotted with the typical Swedish cottages and a regular host to the fishing boats that travel through the area.  There is plenty to do in the town itself and it is a great base from which to explore the local area.  A trip to the Norden’s Ark (a centre for endangered species) in nearby Hunnebostrand, or the watercolour museum in Skärhamn are both highly recommended.  The fabulous Koster Islands are also easily accessible from Strömstad and can be reached by accessible boat from the main pier.

Your hotel is located in the centre of the village and boasts stunning views over the traditional local harbour and sparkling Koster fjord.
